What is our mission?
The mission of Bristol Faith in Action is to provide a witness of Christian unity in service and a sign of God’s love in and for our community; and to recognize and serve the needy of our community as Christ invites us to do.
What types of assistance do we provide?
At Bristol Faith in Action, we can provide emergency financial assistance for :
· Utilities and Utility Deposits (heating utilities and water)
· Rent and Rent Deposits
· Local Bus Passes
· Prescription assistance
· Food
· Debt/Budget Counseling
· Free Medical Care — 2nd Wed. Monthly through
Crossroads Medical Mission
· Referrals for Drug or Alcohol Abuse
· Referrals for education/job placement
· Referrals for violence, neglect or marriage counseling
Who qualifies for assistance at Bristol Faith in Action?
Services are available to residents of Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia. Residents of the neighboring communities of Blountville and Bluff City are also eligible for assistance. Residents of Piney Flats who receive their utilities through a Sullivan County provider are also eligible to apply.
How often can I apply for assistance at Bristol Faith in Action?
Bristol Faith in Action bases our assistance per household. Each household is eligible to receive emergency financial assistance one time during a six-month period. Food can be provided more frequently if necessary.
What do I need to bring when coming in to apply for assistance?
Clients must bring a photo ID, social security card for all members of the household, and a copy of the delinquent bill (disconnect notice is required for utilities). For rental assistance, please bring a copy of your lease and also your landlord’s name and phone number. For prescription assistance, please bring a copy of your prescription or an empty bottle of the prescription that is eligible for refill.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, if you need financial assistance, you need to schedule an appointment 2-3 business days ahead.
You do not need an appointment for help with food, diapers, personal hygiene items, etc. To receive help with those, simply come any time from 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM Tue – Fri.
