Bristol Faith in Action was established in 2001 and became a tax-exempt 501 ©(3) as the coordinated effort of 13 area churches who had the vision that by coordinating and joining together, they could be more effective in serving Bristol area residents who find themselves in financial crisis. The first clients were seen on January 9, 2002. Since that time the churches affiliated and supporting the outreach ministry has grown to 75 churches of all denominations.
There are only two part-time, paid employees – the Executive Director and Program Director. The vast majority of client-related functions are accomplished by the dedicated assistance of approximately 46 volunteers.
The Board of Directors is comprised of 12 people representing clergy and laypersons with specific skill sets like finance, law, planning, etc.
Bristol Faith in Action is a United Way of Bristol agency and is also financially supported by its member churches, foundations, grants, individual donors, businesses and organizations.
